Climate Change: Positivity vs Negativity

It’s safe to say the Climate narrative has been heavily one sided until now. The science is clear and as we go further into the abyss without change, the emotion is naturally escalating.

There has been clear progress in our awareness around the threat of global warming. However, the reality is there’s still a very long way to go in collectively accepting just how dire our situation is.

We’ve seen Netflix documentaries, one after another, millions spent, to illustrate the dark underbelly of our continual economic growth. The term ‘Greenwashing’ has been coined, and released into the wild. Large companies are being called out daily, for not being honest in marketing. ‘Just Stop Oil’ are throwing tomato soup around in art galleries and gluing themselves to roads.

And rightly so…There’s plenty of historical evidence to show that these approaches have been effective before, so why not again?

There’s every chance we could see those accumulated efforts eventually tip the balance. But right now, we’re just not seeing change quickly enough. Governments aren’t implementing sufficient policy and corporations are changing at their own pace to protect shareholder value.

The flaws of prolonged negative messaging
